Not everything is for you.
And just because it’s not, doesn’t make it bad or silly or worse than the thing you like.
Like, if you don’t like vampires, get over it. Don’t watch VD (Vampire Diaries! Not an out-of-date way of saying STI) … well certainly don’t watch it now because it’s kind of terrible. Well, maybe watch it now, just skip over a few seasons after maybe, say, season 3 because it got dumb after that. Then you can pick it up again around now so you know how it ends. But only if you’re into vampires. And if instead you prefer your fantasy to come with brightly lit swords that make noise. THAT IS PERFECTLY FINE.
Not everything is for you.
And just because there might be jokes in it you don’t get or love or quiet observations and just because women actually enjoy reading it, doesn’t automatically make it fluff or lesser-than or unworthy of admiration. Or G.D. "chick lit" - shudder.
Not everything is for you.
Just because it might make you want to dance, or sing along into a hairbrush, doesn’t make it unworthy of love. Just because someone else likes it, doesn’t mean you have to automatically prefer the shoe-gazer from the middle of nowhere who is only discussed (in reverent tones) in the deep recesses of a Reddit thread.
Not everything is for you. Not everything is for me. It’s fine. Relax. You like your stuff. I’ll respect it. I’ll like my stuff and you can feel free to not throw up all over Twitter when it’s mentioned.
